A decade ago, the
Summer camp has long been seen as an extremely positive and beneficial experience for any child. For burn survivors, camp offers the opportunity to have fun while they share their feelings and experiences with other children who are in similar circumstances. The 4-day long overnight camp is held annually, at the end of August. In the past, burn camp has been held at such exotic locations as, the Camp Good Days facility on
Some activities that the children will enjoy include: arts and crafts, sports, games, aquatic activities as well as activities that encourage self-expression and an opportunity to assist in creating a new and positive self-image. The camp is staffed by nurses, social workers, adult burn survivors and firefighters, as well as other health care professionals. The Burn Camp has been successful with the help of volunteers and a dedicated burn care staff. |
